Maybe we're getting 'old' but we like to spend our last night in France in a special hotel that puts a smile on our face to last a week. St Vaast le Houge is such a place, the Hotel des Fuschias offers pleasant accomodation with a meal and service to die for! Just a half hour or so from Cherbourg, it's ideal for that 'last night'.

A walk around the (working) fishing harbour is a great apertif; watching fishermen emptying their baskets and not a few British boating 'types' mooring up for the night.

High and dry In, wet and about to fish...

Pending repairs

Waiting.

Pending eating Inside the tiny fisherman's church just around the corner. Light pours through the stained glass window.

Our 'special' place for the night, the Hotel des Fuchsias where the dining room is always fully booked. Say no more...

It has an interesting sub tropical garden where things grow tall...

The following morning, we await P and O's Cherbourg Express to arrive from Portsmouth. Less than 40 minutes after arrival, we are on the way out. Les Vacances c'est fini. Sad. Triste.

Our last image of France is this jumble of concrete as we leave the harbour for the English Channel (Le Manche) and Portsmouth.

Cardiff is just two and a half hours beyond.

Thank you France for yet another memorable holiday.
