There are two dams across the Nile at Aswan.

The Old or British Dam, which is self explanatory, and the much bigger and higher New Dam (built with the help of Russian money) that caused Lake Nasser to form.

all aboard for a trip to the Aswan Dams.

After lunch, we were taken by boat to the beautiful Philae temple dedicated to the Goddess Isis.

This is the modern dam. Big, and it holds back quite a lot of water; 300 miles plus of Lake Nasser.

The only place in Egypt where you can find wild crocodiles.

If you care to look.

A bit of merchantry harassment first of course.

Hani, our guide allows a young man on board to display his attractive locally made jewellery (not China)

It was very good and he made quite a few sales.

This temple also had to be moved from its original position from an island that was to be submerged by the rising waters behind the dam.

The sunlight is intensely bright and hot.

I just keep saying: 'it's February'.

This info board tells all.

After lunch, we start sailing and we are now on our way to Kom Ombo to visit the Ptolemaic temple uniquely dedicated to two gods.

Our first sight of a camel.

Our crew discuss the route.

Or maybe what's for dinner.

The views are of a land Biblical in nature.
This is the way to travel.

I love it!
