Photo Album-England

Pictures taken in and around London between 1962 and 1967

The 'Swinging' 60's.

The pictures were all taken on an Ilford Sportsman with fixed lens. Grainy and home processed, they are not exactly Hulton Picture Library material! All I could afford at  the time, but it is quite nice to recall the atmosphere of the time.

Michael Angelo (now Wilcock) and some of his pics of his life with mega groups such as The Stones, The Who and The Troggs taken during his heyday of being a DJ at the Floral Hall in Morecambe, Lancashire. He now lives in South Wales not a (long) stones throw from here. We are also in the same (Vale) Photographic Club.

Nice one Mike, great 60's photos. Any piece of history is greatly admired I assure you.

Your site is a great inspiration for an idea that is going on in the back of my head. I am not a photographer or a budding amateur and my idea is nothing new really. I think more people should take it up, though, seeing as cameras are quite readily available.

Recent property trends in London mean a lot of humble, fairly practical and simple historical constructions are giving way to modern developments. I live in Wood Green and on my local journeys I see little clips of history which I really like. Just a simple old garage or dilapidated shed still shows the character of the 60's, if not before this time. There are old confectionery machines, old railway mileposts, old lampposts, old signage, you name it... If you look hard enough there's still a bit of history around and I might start taking photos of these simple objects just to chronicle something and keep a bit of the past - which is being gobbled up fast!

Thanks for sharing your photos. Don't worry too much about replying because emailing is not my forte and actually all this technology can be quite time consuming sometimes. I just wanted to compliment your website and to tell you to keep the good work up!
