We stopped for a while in Vire and saw this interesting
little floating duck house on the river.
Could it be sponsored by a Chinese
restaurant? |
 |
It also boasted an ancient tower and at
least one bright yellow car! |
 |
 |
In Clisson, we had booked into the Hotel du Gare opposite
the station and so we set out to
explore.
The tourist information office was by the old covered market, we
were told.
It was and we were made welcome. There we saw the evidence
of
the twinning. |

The Église Notre Dame from two differing

What's a Hussier?
It's a bailiff, apparently. |
 |
Clisson's castle is very impressive and HUGE.
Dating back from mediaeval times, it sits at the crossroads
of Brittany, Anjou and Poitou. Find more about it at:

| Down the steps toward the river: La Sevre Nantaise.
|
 |
Dull skies didn't help the photography. Turning round,
the height of the castle remains makes one realise just how massive it is. |
 |
 |
An ancient and narrow bridge crosses the river, but unfortunately
pedestrians have to share it with traffic. |
As the photographer found out when he tried
to take pictures of this happy couple on their special day. |

La Garenne Lemot is the name of the large
landscaped gardens in the Italian style on the banks of the Sevre Nantaise.
There are follies, statues and grand buildings, all in the Italian style.
Shame there was no Italian style sunshine to bring out the best in the
buildings. |
 |
On the wedding theme again, we saw this on
a house wall as we walked back to our hotel. |
 |
 |
During our early evening beer break, I received this
daunting look from another customer in the bar. |
After dinner, I went for a stroll around
town. It was very quiet, very tranquil and feeling a little car/food and
wine lagged it was time to return to the Hotel de Gare.
"Ah well, time for bed said Zebedee". |
