Of course, it's the west coast of
California that gets all the plaudits. We decided to give L.A. a miss
but missed a turn and saw rather more of the traffic jams of that city
than I really wanted to.
Our destination
was Santa Barbara, a lush and very classy resort indeed.
One of the first things that struck me was the number
of bronze statues around the town. Some of them very inventive indeed.
er, no, that's a real person.
and this is a live turtle moving in a
statuesque way.
The old Court house in town has to be seen to be
believed. It's a gorgeous building and still houses courts in current
day usage.
Such clever use of shape and colour reminds me of
Barcelona.

I suppose what surprised me was the fact that
photography was not forbidden. Almost encouraged!

The shopping centre was a very pleasant precinct with
