each May Bank Holiday, Llandudno holds a huge
transport Extravaganza where vintage vehicles of all kind head for
Llandudno for a long weekend of parades and displays. First, a few pics
taken over the fence of the huge field which is their base.
Then an aside into the Conway Valley.
There's clearly a kind of rebel element there...
I well remember these from my youth;
always to be seen around the larger railway stations
Higher up on the Orme, the stately Llandudno trams
make their way up with paying passengers as they have been doing for 100
years or so.
Out at sea, there's some flaring going on at an off
shore platform. I can never understand why the gas can't be used in a
more eco friendly manner.
To the east, a platform is driving piles
into the sea bed for the next generation of wind farms.
This is how the Orme looks at night;
seen from Deganwy.
Behind Trefriw, in the Conway valley, there's a
delightful little valley with many walks and trails.
Also, my wife's favourite pottery...
Then, later, some shots of the vintage
vehicles as they pass our flat in Deganwy in a parade that is just for
me! All so familiar to this 60+ year old...
Many of these cars had driven hundreds of
miles as they do each year. Well done Llandudno for hosting the event.
