The vale of Evesham is an area that is very dear
to my heart for a number of reasons. During my 40 years in the world of
Television I have visited the BBC training centre there on many
occasions, initially to be trained but nowadays as a trainer of the
younger generation of TV people.
Its almost the centre of England and is certainly a
lush and pretty landscape. Thatched cottages, plum trees, orchards and
asparagus are just some of the goodies to be found here.
The village of Fladbury, on the river Avon, has a
particular attraction for me. Two old water mills are to be found by the
weir, Cropthorne and Fladbury each have their own.
One of my favourite pubs, The Anchor right in the
centre of the village.
Bright morning sunlight.
As I approach the river, ducks are
frightened by my presence.
This is the Cropthorne Mill.
There is a public ferry that links the two mills.
Upstream of the weir, some nice reflections.
and a touch of mist
a couple of leaves on the lock gate beam.
It was quite frosty last night.
There was a snowfall in the nearby Cotswolds, so I
decide to go and take a quick look.
This is Snowshill, appropriately enough. The first
snow in October for some 70 years I am told.
These are the Lavender fields just outside the
village.
