The Vernal Falls are reached after a 1.2 mile hike up a pretty steep trail Initially a well made up path complete with W.C.'s and washing facilities part way up. Then, it all gets a bit tricky.

Steep stone steps and then its through the mist that the waterfall creates. Soaked, we continue to the top of the first fall.

there are the steps. Lots and lots and lots! We were one of the first visitors that morning.

Oh boy, a whole lotta water. And spray for our hair.

Dramatic stuff, nest pas?

looking down, a rainbow.

a rest at the viewing point.

Serious walkers can continue to the Nevada fall.

We didn't.

Not sure about the new hairdo, Jean!

looking up the way... ...and ever so down the way.

Nearly down to safety. We met hundreds on the way up. Go early is my advice.

Back to the serenity of the valley. We wanted a closer look at El Capitan.

Its a heck of a big rock and there were climbers all over it.

Long lens needed to pick them out here.

It can take days to get up. People actually sleep overnight on their ropes.

Just hanging around waiting for the sun to come up.

I'd rather be in a nice comfy bed.

and what about the rest room?

Ah, that valley view keeps on getting better.
Back up once more at Glacier view, it is now spectacularly clear.

Third time lucky.

Its an 'Oh my God' shot!
They're all a bit like that.

This is a close up of Half Dome from the same viewpoint.

Lots of people climb that, too.

Looking over to the north eastern part of this huge National Park.

How huge? Well it took us almost three hours to drive from one side to the other.

Time for our tour to take a different kind of turn.    Death Valley.

On to Death Valley
