Winter has come suddenly and rather early for South Wales.

We've had two weeks of cold but bright weather with temperatures plummeting each night to several degrees below zero.

Your intrepid photographer was out there trudging across the fields with his camera. No surprise there, then.

These were taken this morning (December 7th) just south of Cowbridge near Beaupre Manor.

Its a pleasant half mile walk from the main road.

Just a thistle kind of weed backlit by the sun.

Oh so white...

Nice sky tones.

Reduced to monochrome for a little more impact.

Taken as seen; cropped and tweaked to bring out the contrast between the hoar frost lined branches and the surrounds.
This up our 'back lane' with 'steaming' water from the stream backlit in the mid morning sunshine. Later in the day, in Michelston Le Pit near Dinas Powis.

From my lounge window, looking west.

a little later, the sun rises on trees lined with Hoar frost.
even barbed wire has a certain charm when frosted.

as I walk along, just looking down, another aspect of winter.

More hoar frost, more leaves, more winter.

Flying ducks, usually seen on a wall in somebody's house.

Just a nice tree.

Ditto

A nice arch shape with the two trees here.
