Late April 2007 saw the culmination of a large investment in a new vision system for the BBC's training studio A at Wood Norton near Evesham in the English midlands. I was invited along to a proving day when, with the help of one of the BBC's top music directors, Mark Kershaw, we rehearse recorded a number of musical items which would serve for future training and show what worked, and more importantly, what didn't work.

The result was, according to 'them what organised it' was a good day and a great result. Below, just a few snaps taken by myself whilst keeping all the lighting 'plates' spinning on their sticks!

Thanks to Tim Wallbank and Andrew Vale in particular, but also to too many others who burnt a lot of midnight oil over the preceding days and weeks.

Its just after 9 am and the team is assembling in Studio A for briefing.

The rigging of floor lamps (by me) is not yet tidy as I know there is going to be considerable disruption as the drum kit and sound cables are rigged.

I only heard the music less than 24 hours ago and have created a rig which gives myself maximum flexibility for colour changes.

House lights are out, cracked oil/smoke is on and we're off. Unfortunately, out of my four moving lights, one is not working properly, so the symmetry of lighting is not really achievable.
The pianist/vocalist is Ronnie Teape. The sound created by his band is pleasant and (thankfully) not at all 'garage!'
Drums take a break!
This was my favourite shot of the drum kit, red and blue lights do make good soul mates in the land of light!

A most enjoyable day.
