The start of this walk is just a couple of miles up the road from Aberthin.

It starts at the White lion pub in Ystradowen and does a big loop taking us through all manner of countryside.

We had a very useful pamphlet to guide us. Wendy and Jean were appointed Navigators. I was in charge of photography and Roy (a biology lecturer) kept us informed and entertained with his field knowledge.

we start by crossing the stile by the church with a fine view of the house with a fine view

The navigators discuss our route

Catkins are very much in evidence

Roy investigating the first of many different areas of fresh water ponds. Some of the trees hereabouts have seen better days.

Interesting colours and textures in the decay.

Is this the path we should be on?

Roy has found a good likeness of the cameraman. we cross a field full of friendly horses.

They want to come with us.

A beam of sunlight in an otherwise cloudy day.

More consultation.

More fresh water investigation. Roy's speciality is (are) water mites.

we are not alone.

A spring just bubbling out of the ground. This is limestone country.

We found this fungal growth and Roy asked me to take several angles of it.

I liked the nice shapes of the trees here.
